Find answers to common questions about our vascular ultrasound services
A vascular ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure that
uses sound waves to create images of your blood vessels. It allows
us to assess blood flow, detect blockages, identify abnormalities,
and evaluate the overall health of your arteries and veins. The
examination is painless and does not use radiation.
Most vascular ultrasound examinations take between 30-60 minutes,
depending on the type of study being performed. More comprehensive
examinations may take longer. We always allow sufficient time to
perform a thorough assessment while keeping you comfortable.
No, vascular ultrasound is completely painless. You will feel the
transducer (ultrasound probe) moving over your skin with gentle
pressure, but the examination should not cause any discomfort. If
you experience any discomfort during the examination, please let
us know immediately.
Yes, a referral from your doctor is required for vascular
ultrasound examinations. Your doctor will provide specific
information about what type of examination is needed and why it
has been requested. Please bring your referral letter with you to
your appointment.
A comprehensive report will be prepared and sent directly to your
referring doctor. Your doctor will then discuss the results with
you and recommend any necessary treatment or follow-up. We aim to
deliver reports promptly to ensure timely patient care.
Our mobile service brings specialist vascular ultrasound imaging
directly to your doctor's practice. This means you can receive
your examination at the same location as your consultation,
providing convenience and continuity of care. We coordinate our
schedule with your doctor's appointments to ensure seamless
patient flow.
We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that
allows easy access to the area being examined. For leg
examinations, loose pants or a skirt is ideal. For carotid artery
studies, wear clothing with an open neckline. You may be asked to
partially undress for some examinations.
Yes, you are welcome to bring a support person with you to your
appointment. They can wait in the waiting area or, with your
permission, accompany you during the examination. We understand
that having support can make you feel more comfortable.
Vascular ultrasound is extremely safe with no known risks or side
effects. It does not use radiation or inject any contrast agents.
The examination uses only sound waves, which are completely
harmless. You can resume all normal activities immediately after
your examination.
