Everything you need to know about your vascular ultrasound examination
A vascular ultrasound is a painless, non-invasive examination that uses sound waves to create images of your blood vessels. The procedure typically takes 30-60 minutes depending on the type of examination.
During the examination, a clear gel will be applied to your skin, and a small hand-held device called a transducer will be moved over the area being examined. You may be asked to change positions or hold your breath briefly at times to obtain the best images.
The examination room will be quiet and comfortable. Feel free to ask questions at any time during your examination – we're here to make sure you feel informed and at ease.
You can resume normal activities immediately after your examination. There are no restrictions on driving, eating, or physical activity.
A comprehensive report will be prepared and sent to your referring doctor promptly. Your doctor will discuss the results with you and recommend any necessary treatment or follow-up.
If you have any questions after your examination, please don't hesitate to contact your referring doctor or our practice.
